KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A person has died after they were hit by a car on the shoulder of a highway, the Kansas City Police Department reported Sunday.
KCPD responded to the northbound lanes of 71 Highway at E. 39th Street shortly after midnight on June 22, around 12:20 a.m.
An investigation revealed that the victim’s car was hooked up to a tow truck after it started having a mechanical issue. The victim was standing next to the tow truck on the inside shoulder of the highway when an unknown car hit them and kept going without stopping.
The victim died at the scene. Their identity has not been released.
There is currently no description of the suspect’s vehicle, but the case remains under investigation.
