KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Three pedestrians were injured in a crash in Kansas City on Sunday morning.
According to the Kansas City Police, emergency crews were called to the area of northbound I-35 and Paseo at around 11:20 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a white Toyota Corolla was stopped on the right shoulder of the highway with three pedestrians standing outside of the vehicle. A white Dodge Ram pulling a trailer was traveling northbound on I-35. The Dodge braked and swerved to the right to avoid traffic that was stopping on the highway.
The Dodge traveled northbound on the right shoulder, striking the Toyota and three pedestrians. The three pedestrians were transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Two pedestrians are currently in critical condition and the third pedestrian is in stable condition. The driver of the Dodge was uninjured. The investigation is ongoing.
All lanes of northbound I-35 were closed at Admiral for approximately three and a half hours.
The interstate was reopened by 2:30 p.m.
