LANSING, Ill. (WLS) – A south suburban crash on Interstate 80 left a driver dead and another injured on Monday afternoon, Illinois State Police said.
ISP said troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash on eastbound I-80, west of Torrence Avenue, just after 4:30 p.m.
Preliminary information indicates that a car rear-ended another car, which was stalled in a lane.
The collision caused the car that struck the stalled vehicle to change lanes, where it was hit by a semi.
The driver of the car hit by the semi was pronounced dead on the scene, ISP said.
The driver of the stalled car was transported to a local hospital with injuries.
Traffic is getting by on the far-right lane.
Authorities did not immediately provide further information about the crash.
