Jefferson Co, MO – Two Injured in Crash on I-55 SB Near Mile Marker 186

Jefferson County, MO (July 22, 2025) – A collision on southbound Interstate 55 late on Monday night sent two people to area hospitals with moderate injuries. The incident took place at the 186-mile marker shortly after 9:00 p.m., involving two heavily damaged vehicles.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado became disabled in the third lane of I-55. A 2013 Chevrolet Cruze traveling southbound then collided with the stalled pickup truck. Both vehicles sustained total damage and were removed from the scene by Miner’s Towing Service.

Emergency crews from the Rock Township Ambulance District responded promptly, transporting the two injured drivers for medical care. The 25-year-old woman from Wood River, IL, who was driving the Cruze, was taken to Mercy Hospital Jefferson. The 69-year-old male driver of the Silverado, from House Springs, MO, was transported to Mercy Hospital South. Both individuals were reportedly wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Assisting at the scene were multiple troopers and local responders. Traffic was impacted in the southbound lanes as authorities worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the scene.
