Pedestrian Struck, Killed On Interstate 55

One person is dead after they were struck assisting a disabled vehicle in the northbound lanes of I-55 in Joliet.

Illinois State Police were called to the scene of the crash, near Route 30, for a crash with injuries involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, they found the struck pedestrian near the crash. They were transported to University of Chicago Bolingbrook hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

They have been identified by the Will County Coroner as 30-year-old Bosimbek Khazratkulov of Aurora.

The driver, a 21-year-old male from Shorewood, was issued a citation for Failure to Yield while Approaching a Disabled Vehicle.

Illinois State Police are investigating the crash.
