Scottsdale, AZ (July 6, 2025) – Medics and fire crews worked to assist those suffering from injuries after a serious crash occurred Saturday afternoon on the southbound lanes of Loop 101 near Shea Blvd in Scottsdale. The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that the collision happened shortly after 1 p.m. and involved a disabled vehicle that was struck by another car.
According to DPS, the initial vehicle had stopped functioning on the freeway before being hit by a second vehicle traveling southbound. The impact resulted in serious injuries to at least two individuals, both of whom were transported to the hospital for further treatment.
The crash caused major traffic disruptions, with all southbound lanes of Loop 101 closed at Cactus Rd for several hours. Additionally, the Cactus Rd on-ramp to Loop 101 southbound was shut down as authorities worked to investigate and clear the scene. The roadway was reopened by 6 p.m.
