OHIO — Four people were taken to the hospital late Tuesday night after a three-car crash involving an Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) cruiser on U.S. 35.
The crash happened around 10:24 p.m. when a trooper from the Xenia Post had stopped a vehicle in the left lane of U.S. 35 east, between N. Fairfield and Factory Roads, according to OSHP.
Just minutes later, a third vehicle struck the back of the cruiser, pushing it into the stopped car. Photos and video from the scene showed the cruiser sustained significant rear-end damage.
Medics transported four people to the hospital. The trooper and a passenger inside the cruiser suffered minor injuries. The driver of the stopped car, identified as 19-year-old Ka’sha Lewis of Xenia, was also hospitalized with minor injuries. The third driver, 37-year-old Soner Oner, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, also with minor injuries.
OSHP said Oner was cited for failing to maintain an assured clear distance and for not wearing a seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation.
