Marquette Township, MI (August 7, 2025) – A Michigan State Police trooper was injured Wednesday morning during an active crash investigation on US 41, prompting a swift emergency response and renewed safety concerns along the busy highway.
Emergency medical services responded promptly to the scene just before 10 a.m., where initial reports indicated a personal injury collision involving a 56-year-old man who lost control of his eastbound vehicle. Another car struck his vehicle in the moments following the loss of control. As troopers from the Michigan State Police investigated the scene, a secondary incident unfolded nearby, escalating the situation.
According to MSP officials, a separate vehicle—driven by a 57-year-old woman from Laurium—was attempting to avoid yet another crash near the original accident site when it collided with another car and subsequently struck the on-scene trooper. The impact caused the trooper to roll across the car’s hood, minimizing what could have been more serious injuries. The vehicle then continued forward, ultimately crashing into one of the cars involved in the original accident.
Emergency Responders from Marquette Township provided immediate care, and the injured trooper was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The identities of the other drivers have not been released, and the extent of additional injuries was not disclosed at the time of this report.
Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the series of events that led to the multi-car sequence. As of now, no citations have been issued, and traffic conditions in the area have since returned to normal.
Our thoughts are with the trooper and all those affected by this incident.
