MEMPHIS, Tenn. – One man is dead Sunday after he was struck in a five-vehicle pileup at Highway 385 west of Riverdale Road.
Police responded to the collision at 1:02 a.m. Lanes on both east and west bound sides of the highway were closed.
Police say it started with a two-vehicle accident that left both vehicles disabled. Another vehicle then hit the first two. Then, two other vehicles swerved to miss the wreck and hit each other.
One of those vehicles also then hit a man who had gotten out of his vehicle after the first wreck.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Four others were taken to hospitals with non-critical injuries.
