According to the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to I-39 at mile marker 26 near Minonk at 9:01 a.m. Monday in response to a crash involving serious injuries. Calls to the sheriff’s office indicated that the semi rear-ended the car while it was parked on the shoulder of the interstate.
The semi had been hauling a loaded flatbed trailer, with the entire vehicle rolling over on its side after the collision in a nearby field.
The disabled vehicle had no one in it at the time of the crash, but the driver of the semi was transported to OSF HealthCare Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac for treatment.
The northbound lanes on I-39 were reduced a single lane as cleanup continues. That is expected to continue into the middle of the afternoon.
