Riverview, FL (August 28, 2025) – A 27-year-old woman lost her life early Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle while standing outside her disabled car along the southbound side of Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County. The fatal incident occurred just north of Big Bend Road in Riverview and brought southbound traffic to a standstill for several hours.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash happened around 12:30 AM when the woman, a Riverview resident, exited her Nissan Altima, which had become disabled along the highway. As she stood near the vehicle, she reportedly stepped into the path of an oncoming Kia Sportage, which struck her.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV remained at the location and cooperated with investigators. Multiple southbound lanes were closed during the investigation and cleanup efforts but were fully reopened by 6:00 AM.
Troopers have not yet released the identity of the woman, and an investigation remains ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragic collision.
