DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two drivers are injured after police said an SUV hit a disabled vehicle on Interstate 85 North in Dinwiddie County Wednesday evening.
At around 9:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, a disabled vehicle was stopped partially in the left lane on northbound I-85 in Dinwiddie County when it was hit on the rear passenger side by a Chevrolet Blazer, according to Virginia State Police.
Officials said the impact caused the Chevrolet to move into the right lane, where it was then hit by a tractor-trailer.
Both vehicles ran off the left side of the road, and the trailer overturned, splitting in half, which caused its load to spill onto the road.
Police said the drivers of both the disabled vehicle and the tractor-trailer reported having non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet was flown by MedFlight to a local hospital.
Lanes were reportedly closed for an extended period to facilitate cleanup of debris from the crash.
Officials continue to investigate the crash.
