Washington Co, PA – Man Hit & Killed in Roadside Accident on Hwy 22 at I-576

Washington County, PA (August 26, 2025)— A 46-year-old man was killed Monday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle while addressing a mechanical issue on his car along a busy roadway in Washington County, officials said.

According to Washington County Coroner Tim Warco, the victim had been operating a commercial truck and pulled over to the right of the fog line on the entrance ramp from U.S. Highway 22 to Interstate 576 to check a mechanical problem. While outside the truck, Everhart was hit by another vehicle.

Emergency crews responded to the scene before 4:00 p.m., where multiple first responders and a medical helicopter were visible. Warco said the driver involved did not remain at the scene, but a short distance away, aerial footage appeared to show another individual being taken into police custody.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission reported that by 6:30 p.m., the crash scene had been cleared and all lanes of the US-22 ramp to I-576 were reopened to traffic. The incident remains under investigation; however, no further details were reported.

We offer our sincere condolences to the deceased man’s family members.
