Wild video shows pickup truck smash into disabled vehicle on L.A. freeway

Dramatic video obtained by KTLA shows the moment a pickup truck slammed into another truck that had become disabled on the 118 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley overnight.

Preliminary information indicates that a dark-colored truck had collided with the center divider while traveling eastbound on the freeway near Reseda Boulevard in the Porter Ranch area shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday.

While that truck was stalled in the lanes, another silver truck traveling at full speed collided with it, the video showed. The latter vehicle lost control after the collision and struck a third car that had pulled over to help the first person who crashed.

“They are flying,” the person recording the footage could be heard saying of the silver truck just before it collided with the other, dark-colored truck that was stalled in the freeway lanes.

The California Highway Patrol later confirmed that officers responded initially to the crash involving the one truck at 1:52 a.m. and that no injuries were reported in that incident.

While the officers were arriving at the scene, the second crash that was caught on video occurred, a CHP spokesperson said.

Miraculously, there were no serious injuries reported.

Authorities were not able to say what led up to the first crash or whether speed or impairment played a role.
