A person is dead after a Sept. 5 collision on Interstate 265, according to a news release from Louisville Metro Police.
LMPD responded to a report of an injury collision on I-265 near the Blue Lick Road overpass around 5:10 a.m. Sept. 5, spokesperson Aaron Ellis said.
According to the news release, LMPD’s preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle driving northbound on I-265 had become disabled in the roadway. The driver, who has not been identified, got out and crossed to the shoulder. He was then hit by another car that was attempting to move out of the way of a commercial vehicle and the disabled car.
Emergency services took the man who was hit to UofL Hospital with critical injuries, but he died Sept. 19.
The driver of the other car had minor injuries but refused to be taken to the hospital.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is leading the investigation.
