Claremont, CA – One Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on I-210 Near Monte Vista Ave

Claremont, CA (September 9, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash on the Foothill (210) Freeway claimed the life of one driver Saturday morning, according to officials with the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal collision occurred just after 8:00 a.m. on September 6 in the eastbound lanes of I-210, west of Monte Vista Avenue. Authorities say a brown Mini Cooper became disabled and came to a stop on the right shoulder of the freeway for unknown reasons.

Shortly thereafter, a white Ford Focus sedan traveling in the same direction reportedly veered into the shoulder and collided with the rear of the stalled Mini Cooper.

Emergency medical services responded to the scene and rushed the Ford driver to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. Tragically, the individual was pronounced dead at 8:25 a.m., shortly after arriving at the facility.

The driver of the Mini Cooper was not reported to be injured in the crash.

As authorities secured the area and began their investigation, two eastbound lanes of the freeway were closed for approximately an hour, contributing to significant traffic delays in the surrounding area.

The cause of the crash remains under active investigation by the CHP. It is not yet known if impairment, distraction, or road conditions played a role in the collision.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the individual who lost their life in this heartbreaking accident.
