Vehicle Strikes Disabled Car, Killing Driver On I-395 In Alexandria: Police

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A Springfield driver died after another vehicle driver struck their disabled car in the Interstate 395 travel lanes last Saturday, according to Virginia State Police.

The two-vehicle crash happened at 2:20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 on southbound Interstate 395 in the City of Alexandria. State police say 2008 Toyota Corolla crashed and became disabled in the southbound lanes near the three-mile marker. The crash was not reported to police.

A 2021 Hyundai Venue heading south at a high rate of speed struck the disabled car, according to police.

The Corolla driver, Hennry O. Ortuno Flores, 45, of Springfield, suffered serious injuries and later died at the hospital. Ortuno Flores was not wearing a seatbelt when the Hyundai struck the disabled Corolla.

The Hyundai driver, Dina I. Villalobos Lazo, 41, of Woodbridge, was wearing a seat belt and had minor injuries. Charges are pending, and the crash remains under investigation.
