A couple is reeling after their three adult children were killed in a fiery crash in central Florida. Two of the siblings’ partners and a friend also died.
“My heart sank,” Marshall Clarke-Milton told Fox affiliate WOFL in a joint interview with her husband, Charles Milton Sr., of learning that their kids had been in a deadly crash on Oct. 23. “Because somehow I knew it was them, but I didn’t want it to be them.”
That Friday night, around 9:30 p.m. local time, a Road Ranger roadside assistance truck was making its way to a disabled box truck that was stopped on the shoulder of the Florida Turnpike in Orange County, WOFL, NBC affiliate WESH and ABC affiliate WFTV reported.
As it moved across the northbound lanes, the vehicle’s right rear side was struck by a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse. Witnesses later told investigators that they saw the SUV moving at a high rate of speed with no headlights on, according to the outlets.
Both vehicles left the roadway and caught on fire. The six people inside the SUV became trapped and were later pronounced dead at the scene, according to the reports.
The driver of the Road Ranger, a 28-year-old man from Kissimmee, Fla., suffered minor injuries and did not require medical transport, WESH reported.
