A 26-year-old woman was struck and killed by an SUV after getting out of her car following an earlier crash Sunday morning on northbound Interstate 287 in Piscataway, authorities said.
The first crash took place at 3:39 a.m. when Gabrielle Barclay rear-ended a truck with no trailer attached near Exit 7 in Piscataway, State Police said.
The SUV then veered off the highway and struck a guardrail, officials said.
Barclay, of Piscataway, was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV driver suffered minor injuries and the truck driver was not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
