Mason County, WA (February 23, 2026) – A 57-year-old Shelton man and his 49-year-old passenger, a Port Angeles woman, were hurt in a traffic crash on Highway 101 Sunday.
It was before 4 a.m. when a northbound van on Highway 101, near Sanderson Field, left the roadway and crashed onto a ditch.
As a result, the vehicle rolled and turned onto its driver’s side.
Officers said the driver of the van fled from the scene.
Troopers said the driver left the road, crashed into an embankment and rolled the vehicle onto the driver’s side. The driver, though, fled from the scene, according to the State Patrol.
Another northbound vehicle crashed into the van’s undercarriage.
The Shelton man, who was driving the second vehicle, sustained injuries and was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital.
The second vehicle’s passenger, the Port Angeles woman, was also hurt and was taken to Mason General Hospital.
Officers are investigating this collision.
