All lanes of I-90 in northwest suburbs reopen after crash early Monday morning in which EMS worker was hit by car along highway

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — A portion of I-90 in northwest suburban Hoffman Estates was shut down early Monday morning following a chain-reaction crash in which an EMS worker was hit by a car, according to Illinois State Police.

All lanes reopened by about 8:15 a.m.

ISP says the crash happened just before 2 a.m. on I-90 westbound at milepost 61 when a semi-truck hit a stationary vehicle that had been involved in a previous crash, for which an ambulance was at the scene.

The semi-truck rolled over onto its side, pushing the stationary vehicle into an EMS worker, according to ISP. The EMS worker and the driver of the semi-truck were taken to area hospitals with injuries.

All lanes were shut down for several hours Monday morning at the scene of the crash, with traffic being diverted to Barrington Road.
