ELK GROVE, CA, (February 03, 2026) - A 61-year-old man repairing a flat tire Tuesday night on Bruceville Road in Elk Grove was fatally struck by a driver who took off but was later arrested, according to police.
The crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. between Bilby Road and Boa Nova Drive.
Based on initial reports, the victim, who was not publicly identified, was tending to a flat tire on the west shoulder of Bruceville Road when he was hit by a Dodge pickup truck. Tragically, the 61-year-old died from his injuries at a hospital. The driver did not stop at the scene, Elk Grove police said. On Wednesday, detectives arrested Kushmit Singh after they found the Dodge truck in a garage. The truck had front-right damage consistent with the crash.
Singh, 31, was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for felony hit-and-run resulting in death.
