Woman dies after vehicle is hit while stopped on I-70 in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman is dead after her car was hit on Interstate 70 in Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday, police say.

According to the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD), officers were called to westbound I-70 near the Walnut Street exit around 8:30 a.m.

KCPD says that their investigation revealed that a Hyundai was stopped in a lane of I-70 with a flat tire and no hazard lights on. A semi truck was heading westbound on I-70 when it switched lanes to pass another semi truck, subsequently hitting the Hyundai’s rear end.

KCPD says that the driver of the Hyundai was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead sometime after.

KCPD also confirmed that their investigation remains ongoing.

This is the tenth traffic death in KCMO this year.
