Car hits rear of semi-truck parked along I-75 in Anderson, driver dies

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified the person killed in an afternoon crash March 2 on Interstate 75 in Anderson County.

Steven J. White, 54, of Tennessee, was killed when the 2016 Mazda CX-5 he was driving struck the rear of a semi-truck parked on the right hand shoulder of the interstate’s southbound lanes near mile marker 125, according to the THP’s preliminary report.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was injured. He was identified as Richard L. Petersen, 55, also of Tennessee. THP reports do not give more specific addresses for people involved in crashes, or the extent of their injuries.

Petersen was wearing a seatbelt, according to the report, but White was not.

Both southbound lanes of I-75 were shut down for several hours following the 2:25 p.m. crash.
