ATTLEBORO, Mass. — A man who died Wednesday when his car crashed into a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 in Attleboro, Massachusetts, has been identified.
Chad Askew, 43, of Mansfield, Massachusetts, suffered life-threatening injuries when his car struck the tractor-trailer on the northbound side of the highway before Exit 4.
Two tractor-trailers were in the breakdown lane when the car struck one of the trucks, officials said. No operators or attendants of the tractor-trailers were at the scene when police arrived, officials said.
“There was a sedan that had hit the back of a tractor-trailer,” Attleboro Fire Department Lt. Corey Blais said. “There was a bystander who stopped, got the person out of the vehicle, and they were doing CPR upon the crew’s arrival.”
Askew was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
The crash remained under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police CARS Unit, the Massachusetts State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section and the Attleboro Police Department.
