North Jersey man dead after vehicle hits tractor trailer on Route 287

A Wharton man died after he crashed into a tractor trailer parked on the shoulder of Route 287 in Morristown early on Sunday, March 22.

Attem Petiukh, 37, was driving a Honda SUV on 287 North in Morristown shortly after 4 a.m. While negotiating a left curve in the road, Petiukh crashed into the back of a tractor trailer parked on the right shoulder, according to a preliminary investigation by the New Jersey State Police, who responded to the accident.

Petiukh sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash, but no other injuries were reported, state police said.

The crash remains under investigation, with no other information available at this time. In February, a 22-year-old man was killed when an SUV struck his disabled car on the exit ramp from Interstate 287 in Bridgewater.
