Video shows Amazon worker struck by hit-and-run driver in west Miami-Dade

Intense surveillance video shows an Amazon delivery worker getting hit by a car and the driver speeding away in west Miami-Dade last week.

The incident happened on Southwest 20th Street near 140th Place where a neighbor who was walking his dog said he saw the driver get hit and thrown multiple feet into the air.

The video shows the driver attempting to cross the street to deliver the package to a home when she was struck by the vehicle.

“I heard the bang and I’m like ‘what was that?’ and it sounded like a car crash, like two cars against each other, and then we look outside and we see this poor Amazon lady just laying on the floor,” one neighbor said. “My sister and I we ran downstairs and we went outside to see how we can help. My other neighbors were out here too, they were calling the police and then thankfully emergency and the cops and fire rescue they all got here within like five minutes.”

The surveillance video shows the driver of the car speeding off, leaving the woman in the middle of the street.

“I think it’s very ridiculous to do something like that, you hit someone and you just keep going and don’t even think twice about it,” the neighbor said. “Something needs to be done. There needs to be a speed bump or a stop sign or a roundabout, something put in place so we can prevent this from happening again.”

Police said they’re investigating the incident and will likely have an update on Wednesday.
