SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, CA (April 1, 2026) – Saturday night, a person died in a devastating 3-car crash near Higuera Road and Highway 101.
The incident involving three vehicles happened just before 9:30 p.m. near Higuera Road on the southbound side of Highway 101.
CHP said a 2026 Toyota Camry was attempting to turn left from Higuera Ranch onto the highway when it was struck by a northbound 2023 Toyota Highlander at an unknown speed.
Both vehicles crashed. The Highlander came to rest on the southbound Highway 101 shoulder, while the heavily damaged Camry ended up facing the wrong way in the northbound No. 1 lane.
Authorities said a woman in the Camry was exiting through the passenger door when a northbound 2024 Hyundai Tucson did not see the disabled vehicle and struck her. The Tucson also collided with the Camry.
The woman was thrown into the southbound lanes following the impact, according to investigators.
