CAJON PASS, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A motorcyclist was injured Tuesday evening after crashing into the rear of a stopped FedEx semi-truck along northbound Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass, south of Oak Hill Road.
The collision was reported at about 5:48 p.m. on May 5, 2026, according to California Highway Patrol logs.
According to CHP logs, the motorcycle rider crashed into the back of a white FedEx semi-truck that was stopped on the right shoulder of the freeway. Dispatch notes indicated the rider was found down in the No. 4 and No. 5 lanes following the collision.
Additional details in the CHP incident log stated the semi-truck driver told authorities the truck had already been stopped on the shoulder before the crash occurred and that the driver had been sleeping inside the cab at the time of impact.
A reporting party also told CHP dispatchers the motorcyclist had allegedly been weaving in and out of traffic lanes at high speeds shortly before the collision.
VVNG drone footage from the scene showed the motorcycle lying on its side against the rear of the FedEx trailer while emergency crews blocked off the No. 4 and No. 5 lanes during the investigation and medical response.
The lane closures resulted in traffic backing up for several miles through the Cajon Pass during the evening commute.
At approximately 7:09 p.m., all lanes of northbound Interstate 15 were reopened to traffic.
The condition of the rider was not known at the time this article was published. Additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
The investigation is being handled by the California Highway Patrol Inland Division station.
