HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – A man is dead, another driver was hospitalized and two have been charged after a multi-vehicle crash on I-64 eastbound near Hampton Roads Center Parkway in Hampton Saturday evening, according to the Virginia State Police.
At around 10:30 p.m. on April 18, a Chevrolet pickup that was changing lanes struck a Chevrolet SUV, which then struck a jersey wall. The SUV was then struck by a Toyota Camry. All three cars then stopped in the lane of travel. The Camry’s driver then left his car, resulting in him getting struck by a White Infiniti. The Infiniti then hit a White Jeep SUV.
The Camry’s driver, Freddy A. Villaman, 20, of Lake Worth, FL, died at the scene. The Chevrolet SUV’s driver, Media Roberson, 34, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Roberson wore a seatbelt during the incident. The Jeep’s driver wasn’t injured.
The pickup’s driver, Trinity Hall, 23, of Lanexa, was charged with making an unsafe lane change. The Infiniti’s driver, Dehn Baker, 39, of Hampton, was charged with reckless driving.
All lanes on I-64 Eastbound near Neil Armstrong Parkway were closed due to the crash, according to VDOT.
Traffic was backed up to 1.25 miles as of 11:09 p.m.
