BERKS COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A 33-year-old male died Friday afternoon after he was struck by a truck along the shoulder of I-78 East, according to an incident report from Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 11:15 a.m. near the Route 501 exit (Exit 13) in Bethel Township.
The man, who has not been identified to the public, had parked his blue Volvo tractor-trailer along the right shoulder. Troopers said he was outside of the truck fixing straps on the flatbed trailer when he was struck by another truck driving in the right lane.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
The striking truck continued east on I-78. Troopers believe the truck was white and would have heavy to moderate damage on its passenger side. Troopers said the truck will be missing its passenger side mirror and metal mirror frame piece.
Troopers said the striking truck is possibly a Peterbilt tractor-trailer.
