ROCK HILL, S.C. — A woman who was killed Friday morning on Interstate 77 in Rock Hill has been identified.
Katherine Y. Mendoza Amador, 37, of Rock Hill, had been driving a 2014 Jeep Wrangler that was pulling a trailer, according to the York County Coroner’s office.
Authorities say she stepped out of her vehicle just before 10:30 a.m., while it was in the road, because the trailer had become loose near mile marker 82.
Mendoza Amador was then hit and killed by another vehicle, a 2018 Jeep Renegade.
South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers are investigating the crash.
Traffic was backed up for miles into the afternoon hours Friday, as crews worked to clear the scene and investigate the collision.
