KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A pedestrian standing outside his disabled vehicle was hit and killed overnight by a passing vehicle, officials said.
The crash occured around 1:23 a.m. on Sunday, June 7, on State Highway 205 near the Kaufman and Rockwall county line, according to a press release from the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department.
An initial investigation revealed that a pedestrian was standing outside a disabled vehicle and entered a lane of traffic before he was hit by a Mercedes SUV, according to the release.
The pedestrian was identified as 25-year-old Jatwane Anton Wilson, of Fate. He died at the scene, officials said.
The driver of the SUV was not injured. An investigation into the incident is underway, officials said.
