Berks County coroner IDs man killed in tractor trailer crash on I-78

BERKS CO., Pa. - The Berks County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of a man who died in a crash on I-78 in Berks County Friday night.

Donald Gene Hausenfluck, 61, of San Antonio, Texas, was operating a tractor trailer on I-78 westbound in Upper Bern Township on Friday at approximately 11:48 p.m.., the coroner’s office said.

For unknown reasons, his vehicle left the roadway and struck another tractor trailer that was parked on the shoulder of the interstate, according to officials.

The coroner’s office says that Hausenfluck was taken to Reading Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:31 a.m. on Saturday by emergency room physicians.

The Berks County Coroner’s Office was notified at 2:25 a.m.

The cause of death was determined to be multiple blunt force trauma, and the manner of death has been ruled accidental, according to the coroner.

The incident remains under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Hamburg Station.
