Driver dies after hitting back of tractor trailer that was illegally parked, troopers say

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. — A driver died when their vehicle crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer that was illegally parked along Interstate 85, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened about 3:40 a.m. Wednesday at the rest stop near mile marker 24.

The coroner said that the victim was driving on I-85 when he went off the right side of the road and crashed into the back of a parked tractor-trailer. The driver died at the scene.

According to troopers, the tractor-trailer was illegally parked on the left-hand side of the rest stop entrance

The Anderson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 28-year-old Elijah Anthony DuBose.

The crash remains under investigation by the coroner’s office and Highway Patrol.
