DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A man was hospitalized after a vehicle vs. tractor-trailer crash in Warren County this Thursday.
According to Ohio State Highway Patrol Sergeant Tyler S. Ross, the crash happened at approximately 6:25 a.m. on I-75 south, near milemarker 37 in Franklin Twp.
The initial investigation found a 2027 Kenworth T680 tractor-trailer combination, driven by a 34-year-old man from Laredo, Texas, was parked on the right shoulder of I-75. Officials said a 2015 Ford F-150, driven by a 36-year-old man from Franklin, was heading south on the State Route 123 on-ramp to I-75.
The Ford went onto the shoulder and hit the trailer of the Kenworth. It then became stuck under the back half of the trailer.
The Ford driver was mechanically extricated and taken by medics to the Atrium Medical Center for what officials described as serious injuries. The other driver was uninjured.
Both were cited: the Ford driver for Failure to Maintain Assured Clear Distance Ahead and the Kenworth for Illegally Parking.
The crash is under active investigation by the Lebanon Post.
