16-year-old girl killed in fiery Macomb County crash

MACOMB TWP., MI – A fiery crash involving a disabled vehicle early Saturday morning in Macomb County resulted in the death of a 16-year-old girl.

The crash occurred at about 1:45 a.m. on June 13 north of 22 Mile Road on Fairchild Road in Macomb Township, according to a news release from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.

A Lincoln MKX struck a disabled Chevrolet Malibu on the northbound side of Fairchild Road. The Chevrolet Malibu then caught fire and became engulfed in flames, deputies said.

The 16-year-old girl became trapped in the back seat of the Chevrolet Malibu and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Two other passengers and the driver in the Chevrolet Malibu managed to escape the vehicle.

The driver and a passenger in the Chevrolet Malibu and a passenger in the Lincoln MKX were taken to a nearby hospital.

An investigation into the fatal crash is still ongoing, deputies said.
