On Saturday, June 13, 2026, three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 29 within the city limits of Saint Joseph in Buchanan County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.Missouri state news
The crash occurred at approximately 8:46 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 29 at mile marker 46. The patrol reported that a 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe was stationary in the passing lane with its emergency lights activated when a 2025 Nissan Sentra failed to yield. The front of the Nissan Sentra struck the rear of the Chevrolet Tahoe.
After the collision, both vehicles came to rest, blocking the passing lane while facing northbound.
The 56-year-old woman from Ottawa, Kansas, who was driving the Nissan Sentra, was wearing a seat belt. She sustained injuries and was transported by Buchanan County EMS to Mosaic Life Care in Saint Joseph, Missouri.
A 13-year-old boy from Ottawa, Kansas, who was a passenger in the Nissan Sentra and was wearing a seat belt, sustained injuries. He was transported by Buchanan County EMS to Mosaic Life Care in Saint Joseph.
The 54-year-old man from Saint Joseph, Missouri, who was driving the Chevrolet Tahoe, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Buchanan County EMS to Mosaic Life Care in Saint Joseph. The patrol report listed his safety device status as exempt.
Both the Nissan Sentra and the Chevrolet Tahoe sustained total damage. The Nissan Sentra was towed by Blue Knight, while the Chevrolet Tahoe was towed by Randy’s Towing of Gower.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the investigation was conducted with assistance from additional troopers and the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department.
