16-year-old girl hospitalized after being struck by driver in Ventura County

A 16-year-old girl was hospitalized after being struck by a driver in Thousand Oaks.

On July 5, California Highway Patrol officers were called to the crash on Potrero Road, just west of Wendy Drive, around 11 p.m.

An investigation revealed a driver stopped on the road to drop off a passenger, the 16-year-old girl, whose car was parked in a dirt turnout.

As a 17-year-old boy driving a pickup truck approached the stopped vehicle, he drove onto the right shoulder and struck the girl as she was walking to her car, authorities said.

Deputies arriving at the scene found the girl lying on the ground, unconscious. She was rushed to Los Robles Hospital with major injuries.

So far, no arrests have been made as the crash remains under investigation by CHP. Deputies said neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the crash.

Any witnesses who have not already given their statements to an investigating officer are encouraged to call CHP’s Moorpark office at 805-553-0800.
