Authorities identify good Samaritan killed after hit by SUV while helping at I-10 crash scene

COCHISE COUNTY, Ariz. (KVOA) — The Arizona Department of Public Safety has identified the good Samaritan who was killed after being hit by an SUV while helping at a crash scene on Interstate 10 Tuesday afternoon.

Timothy Patsalos, 28, was identified as the victim. The department said he was a semi truck driver from Maricopa, Arizona.

On July 21 around 2:57 p.m., a crash occurred on eastbound I-10 near milepost 319. Patsalos had stopped to help at the rollover crash scene and as he flagged down traffic for that incident, a Nissan X-Trail hit him, AZDPS said.

The good Samaritan was taken to a hospital in Willcox where he later died. No other injuries were reported.

“Weather was a factor in this and the previous collision,” the department stated.
