CLEVELAND — A Mansfield man suffered serious injuries and three others were hurt after a Cleveland driver caused a crash involving a parked car and tow truck on the shoulder of Interstate 71 in Richland County.
According to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday near milepost 173 of I-71 in Mifflin Township.
Troopers say a 36-year-old Cleveland man was driving his 2026 Ford Bronco south on I-71 when the car went off the left side of the highway and struck a Lexus that was parked on the left shoulder. The impact sent the Lexus forward, where it hit the parked tow truck that was set to tow it away.
The impact also caused the Lexus to hit a 28-year-old man and a 38-year-old man, both from Mansfield, who were outside the tow truck at the time of the crash.
The 28-year-old man was taken to a Mansfield hospital with serious injuries, troopers say. A 24-year-old Stow man who was sitting inside the Lexus at the time of the crash was taken to a hospital for minor injuries. The driver of the Ford Bronco and the 38-year-old man were treated at the scene by EMS.
The crash is still under investigation.
