A semi-truck driver was killed early Thursday morning on Interstate 95 after he crashed into the back of a disabled semi that had hit a deer, causing his truck to catch fire, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The southbound lanes were closed for several hours overnight into Thursday morning, and reopened around 12 p.m.
What we know: The crash happened shortly before 3 a.m. on southbound I-95 at mile marker 276 in Ormond Beach.
FHP said a 2023 international semi-tractor double trailer had hit a deer earlier and became disabled in the outside lane of I-95. The driver had his hazard lights on.

FHP said the driver of the semi that hit the other semi died at the scene. He was identified as a 57-year-old man from Jacksonville.
The driver of the disabled truck – a 59-year-old man from Cape Canaveral – was not hurt, FHP said.
