Two people are injured after a vehicle with two passengers crashed into an unoccupied vehicle in the evening Aug. 28, LMPD spokesperson Chris Baker said in a statement.
At around 10:40 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on southbound Interstate 265 near the Shelbyville Road exit ramp. LMPD also received additional calls that said a second vehicle had crashed into the disabled vehicle, Baker said.
Police, the Louisville Fire Department and emergency medical services responded. Preliminary investigations suggested the driver and passengers in the disabled vehicle had left before the collision occurred, evading injury.
The vehicle that struck the disabled one had a man driving with a women in the passenger seat, both of whom were brought to UofL Hospital for treatment. The man suffered life-threatening injuries; the woman did not.
LMPD Traffic Unit is handling the investigation. No criminal charges are anticipated at this time, Baker said.
Until LMPD completes its investigation, southbound lanes of I-265 in the area will remain closed. No estimated timeline was given for the investigation.
