DALLAS — A 36-year-old man died overnight Monday following a three-vehicle crash that shut down US 75 for hours.
The crash was reported around 8:55 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, in the southbound lanes of US 75 near Belt Line Road, the Richardson Police Department said in a press release. Investigators found that the driver of a Ford pickup with a blown tire was traveling slowly in the southbound lanes of US 75 when it was hit from behind by an Infiniti sedan, officials said.
Both cars stopped in the left lane of the highway and got out of their vehicles, officials said.
A secondary crash occured when a Volkswagen struck the driver of the Infiniti, officials said. The victim, 36-year-old Michael Barrera, was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Volkswagen also struck the Ford pickup and its driver, who was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The driver of the Volkswagen and the passenger of the Infiniti were uninjured.
Richardson police are investigating the incident.
