Alfonso Vega Torres dies in Blythe semi-truck accident, CHP reports

BLYTHE, CA, (September 25, 2026) - Alfonso Vega Torres, a 50-year-old construction worker from Coachella, was tragically killed in an accident allegedly caused by a semi-truck driver on Friday on Interstate 10 in Blythe.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred at approximately 5:15 a.m. near Intake Boulevard when the big rig, operated by a 44-year-old Redlands man, struck a parked attenuator construction vehicle and an unoccupied Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck before slamming into a water truck. During the collision, Torres was hit.

Torres and two other construction workers were killed in the accident, which remains under investigation.
