Man Changing Tire on I-75 Shoulder in Pembroke Pines Killed by SUV, FHP Says

A man was killed Thursday evening after being struck by an SUV while changing a tire on the shoulder of northbound Interstate 75 in Pembroke Pines, just south of Pines Boulevard. The man was thrown into the outside lane and died at the scene, according to investigators.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported the crash at about 5:05 p.m., according to WPLG Local 10. Investigators say a 2026 Honda CR-V was traveling northbound in the outside merge lane when its 69-year-old driver attempted to move into the outside lane but was unable to complete the lane change safely. The Honda traveled between the outside shoulder and the outside lane before its front struck the man, who was in the process of changing the rear left tire of a vehicle.

The Honda driver was not injured, the outlet reports. Local 10 separately identified another 32-year-old man involved in the incident. The identity of the man who died is pending notification of next of kin, and authorities have not released additional details about the crash. No one has been cited in connection with the collision so far.
