A man who was standing outside his car after a crash on I-24 westbound was struck and tossed by another car Friday evening, the Chattanooga Police Department says.
The victim was driving the second of two cars involved in the first crash around 7:20pm Friday evening, according to a statement from a spokesperson.
Both cars pulled over onto the right shoulder, and shortly after one man got out, a third vehicle approaching stopped traffic went into the shoulder and hit the victim’s car.
The victim was thrown “a distance” in the collision, CPD says.
Paramedics took him to a local hospital, where he is in stable condition with serious injuries.
Nobody else was hurt.
CPD did not comment on whether the third driver is facing charges.
