56-year-old Texas man killed in crash on I-40 in El Reno, OHP says

EL RENO, Okla. — A 56-year-old Texas man died after a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Interstate 40 in El Reno, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol collision report.

The report says that a 2013 Volvo was parked on the north shoulder of I-40 when a westbound-traveling 2010 Toyota Prius left the road to the right for an unknown reason and struck the back of the Volvo around 5:15 a.m. The man driving the Prius was pinned inside the vehicle under the Volvo for about two hours before El Reno Fire Department crews could extricate him.The driver was pronounced dead upon impact, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Authorities have not released the man’s name at this time, pending next of kin notification.

The two people in the Volvo were not injured, according to the report.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials said inattention caused the crash.
