POCATELLO, Idaho — The Idaho State Police (ISP) is investigating an early morning crash near Pocatello that has halted traffic on Interstate 15.
According to ISP, around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, a semitruck with a trailer hit a “stationary traffic control vehicle” that was equipped with a crash attenuator. ISP reports the crash ripped open the trailer’s wall, leading to cargo being spilled along I-15. The crash also heavily damaged the stationary vehicle.
No serious injuries were reported.
The right, northbound lane of I-15 and the Exit 73 off-ramp are closed on Wednesday morning, and ISP expects the closure to remain in place until the afternoon.
This crash was not unique, however.
“This was the second traffic-control vehicle struck at the same spot in less than 24 hours. One was hit yesterday, with the second one struck overnight. Drivers are urged to slow down, pay attention, and be prepared for diversions in work zones,” a news release from ISP states.
Drivers in the area can expect delays on Wednesday. Consider alternate routes.
