PASCO, FL, (July 14, 2022) - A 6-month-old girl was killed on Thursday, July 14, in Pasco County when the car that she was a passenger in was struck by a semi-truck that fled the scene after the collision.
An 8-month-old boy and a 3-year-old boy also suffered major injuries in the fateful accident, which occurred at about 12:30 a.m. along the southbound lanes of Interstate 75. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the sedan got a low or flat tire.
Two adult passengers got out of the car to flag traffic as the sedan continued driving south on the road at a low speed. At that time, the semi-truck, operated by 31-year-old Aramis Peralta Ramirez hit the sedan. Authorities said that Ramirez did not stop after the collision and continued traveling south.
Authorities later located Ramirez and the rig on Old Pasco Road and State Route 52, where it was disabled. He was charged with leaving the scene of a traffic crash involving a death.
